Job purpose:

As a Junior Redis Database Administrator, you will be a part of a growing international team based in Kuala Lumpur Center mainly supporting Azure Cache for Redis PaaS subscriptions on Azure cloud. We are seeking candidates with wide range of expertise and skills in Redis PaaS cloud database support such as day-to-day administration, performance tuning, monitoring, Backup/restore and NoSQL programming know-how

Key activities:

• Database Administration support with main focus on Azure Cache for Redis databases on Azure cloud.
• Database Maintenance, housekeeping, troubleshooting.
• Identify and resolve database performance issues and implementing necessary database changes.
• Incident, problem and change management of database-related incidents and problems, both in collaboration with other technical teams.
• Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Installation, configuration and lifecycle migrations/upgrades and patch management
• Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
• Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
• NoSQL, Unix/Linux, Python, Shell scripting
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
• implement and maintain Redis disaster recovery and high availability solutions.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Formal education:

• Official acknowledged university / college qualifications
• Certified corresponding post education or training in NoSQL database administration areas.

Qualifications/Skills

Essential Skills

Sufficient and proven experience in Redis database administration in particular:

• At least 1 year of experience working with Redis database administration with sufficient skills on Azure Cloud, Google Cloud is advantage.
• Basic Skills in supporting Cloud PaaS subscriptions is a must
• familiarity with cloud platforms (Google or Azure)
• problem analysis resolution and error debugging including skills in raising support requests with vendors.
• database performance tuning (configuration related and application code tuning)
• Access management (authorisation and authentication)
• Advanced Unix/Shell Shell scripting, Python programming skills

additional preferred Skills (technical, methodology and business):

• Knowledge of another database technology: PostgreSQL, Cassandra is a plus.
• Experience in software methodology, processes and quality assurance
• knowledge in the area of IT security
• Profound interest in new technologies and self-motivated troubleshooting
