Job Description

Crane Assembly & Dismantling

• Assemble and dismantle crawler cranes, mobile cranes, lattice boom cranes, and heavy lifting equipment within shipyard premises.
• Install and remove crane booms, jibs, counterweights, crawler tracks, outriggers, and associated lifting components.
• Conduct crane mobilization and demobilization for vessel repair, fabrication, and marine construction projects.
• Assist in crane relocation between berths, dry docks, fabrication yards, and project sites.

Marine & Shipyard Operations Support

• Support heavy lifting activities involving vessel machinery, engines, generators, winches, anchors, spuds, steel structures, and modules.
• Assist project teams during vessel repairs, dry-docking, retrofitting, and offshore equipment installation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Lifting Supervisors, Crane Operators, and Riggers during lifting operations.
• Ensure crane configurations comply with approved lifting plans and load charts.

Inspection & Maintenance

• Carry out pre-assembly and post-assembly inspections.
• Check structural components, wire ropes, pins, sheaves, hydraulic systems, and safety devices.
• Report defects and coordinate repair works with maintenance personnel.
• Assist with crane load testing and commissioning activities.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow Permit-to-Work (PTW), Risk Assessments (RA), Method Statements, and Safe Work Procedures.
• Comply with MOM regulations, SS 597 requirements, and shipyard safety standards.
• Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and emergency drills.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and work-at-height safety measures.
• Maintain good housekeeping within work areas and lifting zones.

Requirements

Education

• Secondary School / NITEC or equivalent.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in crane erection, rigging, or heavy lifting operations.
• Experience working in shipyards, marine construction, offshore projects, or heavy engineering environments preferred.
• Familiarity with crawler cranes (50T–600T+) and heavy lifting equipment.
• MOM Rigger & Signalman Certification.
• Work-at-Height Certificate.
• Lifting Supervisor Certification (advantageous).
• Crane manufacturer training certificates (advantageous).
• Ability to interpret crane assembly drawings and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of heavy lifting and rigging practices.
• Familiarity with shipyard lifting operations and marine project environments.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors and at heights.
