Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement hardware-based automation solutions to enhance manufacturing efficiency, equipment uptime, and process stability across SIP and SSD assembly and test operations.
- Lead automation projects from end-to-end, including requirement gathering, feasibility studies, vendor evaluation, detailed design reviews, shipment and installation planning, qualification activities, and release to production.
- Integrate new equipment and subsystems into existing factory automation infrastructure (e.g., SECS/GEM, E84, AMHS interfaces), ensuring proper implementation of equipment control logic, interlocks, and automation sequences to improve safety and throughput.
- Work closely with equipment engineering, process engineering, IT, and manufacturing teams to identify automation opportunities and translate operational requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Manage hardware upgrades, retrofits, and automation enhancements for production tools and supporting systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues such as sensor failures, communication breakdowns, and equipment interface problems.
- Ensure all automation designs and implementations comply with factory standards, safety requirements, and quality regulations.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including system architecture, wiring diagrams, test plans, and validation reports to support long-term system sustainability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment engineering, or factory automation.
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, including sensors, actuators, PLCs, motion control, robotics, and industrial communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment communication standards such as SECS/GEM and E84.
- Familiarity with AMHS systems, material handling automation, or tool-to-tool communication systems.
- Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, vendor coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Exposure to MES, factory control systems, or manufacturing data collection platforms within semiconductor environments.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments and familiarity with semiconductor equipment safety standards.
- Knowledge of robotics integration, end-effectors, and automated handling systems.
- Strong mechanical design understanding, especially in custom-built automation equipment for end-to-end manufacturing processes.
- Experience in PC and/or PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi) or industrial control systems.
