Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and support to all departments within the company, including but not limited to:

  1. Contract drafting and negotiation.
  2. Reviewing and interpreting construction contracts
  3. Advising on legal compliance and risk management
  4. Drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements, memorandums of understanding, settlement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and heads of agreement
  5. Handling adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters
  6. Attending to legal notices and drafting replies to contractual letters from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  7. Liaising with external counsel on legal issues, such as adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters
  8. Reviewing and revising company policies and procedures
  9. Proactively identify and address legal risks. 

Perform other duties as assigned.  


Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university

• Minimum of 20 years of experience as in-house counsel or in a similar role within the construction industry

• Strong understanding of construction law, laws relating to conveyancing & contracts and corporate law

• Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Excellent organizational skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
