Position Summary
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, and other beverages while delivering excellent guest service and maintaining cleanliness, consistency, and presentation standards. This role plays an important part in creating a positive guest experience by combining beverage craftsmanship, speed, product knowledge, and hospitality.
The Barista is expected to uphold brand standards, maintain a clean and organised bar station, and contribute to smooth day-to-day restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, chocolate, mocktails, and other beverages according to company recipes and presentation standards.
- Operate coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other bar equipment properly and safely.
- Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, temperature, and presentation of every beverage served.
- Check beverage quality before serving to guests.
- Support development of a smooth beverage workflow during busy service periods.
2. Guest Service
- Welcome guests warmly and take beverage orders accurately.
- Recommend suitable drinks, add-ons, and signature beverages based on guest preferences.
- Answer guest questions about beverage ingredients, taste profile, and preparation methods confidently.
- Ensure prompt and friendly service at all times.
- Handle guest feedback or complaints professionally and escalate where necessary.
3. Station Setup & Operational Readiness
- Prepare bar station before service, ensuring all ingredients, garnishes, tools, and supplies are ready.
- Refill stocks of milk, syrups, coffee beans, tea, cups, lids, and other beverage items as needed.
- Monitor inventory usage and report shortages or wastage promptly.
- Support opening, handover, and closing duties in accordance with SOPs.
4. Cleanliness, Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar, beverage station, equipment, and work area at all times.
- Clean coffee machines, blenders, utensils, and counters regularly and properly.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards strictly.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients in line with company procedures.
- Report equipment faults, hazards, or maintenance needs promptly.
5. Product Knowledge & Quality Standards
- Maintain strong knowledge of beverage menu items, recipes, ingredients, and promotions.
- Understand basic coffee preparation standards such as espresso extraction, milk steaming, and drink assembly.
- Follow standard recipes and portion controls to minimise wastage and ensure consistency.
- Support management in testing or improving beverage presentation and quality where required.
6. Teamwork & Support
- Work closely with service crew, kitchen, cashier, and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
- Assist in serving or supporting front-of-house operations when required.
- Attend training, briefings, and product knowledge sessions as scheduled.
- Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor, Outlet Manager, or Management.
Job Requirements
- Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
- Prior experience as a barista, beverage crew, or in F&B operations is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation is preferred.
- Pleasant personality with good communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, consistency, and presentation.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Good personal hygiene and grooming standards.
- Basic English and Bahasa Malaysia communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.

Pay: RM2,200.00 - RM2,600.00 per month
