Role Description

This is a contract on-site role for a SAP Business Warehouse Consultant, based in WP. Kuala Lumpur. The consultant will be responsible for tasks such as designing, implementing, and supporting SAP Business Warehouse solutions. Responsibilities will include performing data modeling, creating business intelligence reports, analyzing requirements, and providing consulting services to optimize data solutions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to align technology with business goals is an essential aspect of this role.

1. Role Overview

SAP BW Consultant responsible for designing, developing, and supporting data warehousing and reporting solutions in SAP. The role focuses on data modeling, ETL processes, reporting, and integration with SAP and non-SAP systems to enable business analytics and decision-making.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Data Modeling & Design

• Design and maintain BW data models:
• InfoObjects
• InfoProviders (DSO, ADSO, InfoCube)
• Composite Providers (in BW/4HANA)
• Develop data flow architecture based on business reporting needs
• Optimize models for performance and scalability

B. Data Extraction & ETL (Data Loading)

• Develop and support data extraction mechanisms from:
• SAP ERP (FI, MM, SD, PM, etc.)
• Non-SAP systems
• Work with:
• Extractors (LO Cockpit, FI/CO extractors)
• DataSources, Transformations, DTPs
• Monitor and resolve:
• Data load failures
• Data inconsistencies

C. Reporting & Analytics

• Develop reports using:
• BEx Query Designer
• SAP BO (WebI, Analysis for Office)
• SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) (if applicable)
• Deliver:
• Financial reports
• Operational dashboards
• KPI-based analytics
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency in reports

D. AMS Support (if applicable)

• Provide L2/L3 support:
• Resolve incidents and service tickets
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA)
• Maintain:
• Data load schedules
• Process chains
• Support business users with reporting issues

E. Performance Optimization

• Optimize:
• Queries for faster execution
• Data models for efficient storage and retrieval
• Work on:
• Aggregates/indexing
• Partitioning (in BW/4HANA)
• Monitor system performance and suggest improvements

F. Integration & Data Management

• Ensure smooth integration with:
• SAP S/4HANA / ECC
• Other SAP modules (FI, SD, MM, PM)
• Handle:
• Data harmonization
• Data cleansing activities
• Support real-time data scenarios (ODP/CDS views)

3. Required Skills

Functional & Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in:
• SAP BW / BW on HANA / BW/4HANA
• Hands-on experience in:
• Data modeling (ADSO, InfoProviders)
• ETL processes (DTP, Transformations)
• BEx Queries
• Good understanding of:
• Business processes (Finance, Supply Chain, etc.)

Tools & Technologies

• Exposure to:
• SAP BO (BusinessObjects)
• SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) (preferred)
• HANA modeling (Calculation Views – added advantage)

4. Experience Requirement

• 3–7 years of SAP BW experience
• Experience in:
• AMS support projects
• Exposure to S/4HANA or BW/4HANA environments (preferred)
