Job Summary
Responsible for leading the New Product Introduction (NPI) function while overseeing engineering activities related to product industrialization, process development, manufacturing readiness, and continuous improvement. This role ensures successful product launches, operational excellence, and alignment with business objectives through effective leadership of the NPI and Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from RFQ, development, qualification, and production ramp-up to mass production.
- Develop and execute NPI strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet customer requirements.
- Lead a team of NPI Engineers, Process Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Technicians to achieve departmental objectives.
- Drive process development, manufacturing readiness, and capacity planning for new and existing products.
- Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to ensure manufacturability and production feasibility.
- Oversee process flow development, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and technical reviews with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and cost performance.
- Support quotation activities by providing technical feasibility assessments, manufacturing costing, cycle time analysis, and resource planning.
- Drive yield improvement, process optimization, scrap reduction, and productivity enhancement programs.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for product, process, and customer-related issues.
- Manage engineering changes (ECN/ECR), ensuring proper implementation and validation across production.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Customers to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor and report departmental KPIs including project delivery, quality performance, productivity, cost savings, and resource utilization.
- Develop engineering talent through coaching, training, succession planning, and performance management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or Product Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years of managerial or leadership experience leading engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience in CNC machining, precision engineering, aerospace, automotive, medical device, or semiconductor manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience in managing multiple projects, engineering resources, and capital investment activities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering documentation control.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
