POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly driven and experienced NPI Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) Senior Engineer to lead supplier quality execution for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. This role is critical to ensuring supplier quality readiness, preventing supplier-related quality escapes, and enforcing disciplined execution of the Quality Critical Component List (QCCL) from Proto through EVT and DVT. The SQE senior engineer will serve as a key technical leader and advisor, partnering closely with NPI Quality Program Management (QPM) and cross-functional teams to enable predictable, high-quality product launches and support overall Quality Performance Index (QPI) objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- New Product Introduction (NPI) & Supplier Quality
- Lead end-to-end supplier quality strategy and execution across all NPI phases (Proto, EVT, DVT).
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for supplier quality readiness and risk management.
- Anticipate and mitigate supplier-related risks through early engagement and structured quality planning.
- Provide formal quality sign-off and governance for NPI phase transitions and readiness reviews.
- Influence cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement teams.
- Quality Critical Component List (QCCL) Execution
- Establish, validate, and maintain the Quality Critical Component List (QCCL) for all assigned NPI programs.
- Ensure 100% of QCCL items are reviewed, mitigated, and cleared prior to first NPI build.
- Lead decision-making on supplier qualification and control strategies for all QCCL components.
- Ensure QCCL risks are mitigated, verified, and supplier-approved by DVT.
- Supplier Readiness & FAI Execution
- Ensure NPI suppliers are deployed with a defined and approved NPI quality process.
- Assess supplier readiness for new designs, processes, materials, and technologies.
- Own First Article Inspection (FAI) planning and execution readiness for NPI builds.
- Ensure on-time FAI completion prior to NPI build execution.
- Risk Management, Prevention & Continuous Improvement
- Lead supplier risk assessments including PFMEA, control plan reviews, and process capability evaluations.
- Drive proactive supplier prevention and control improvements to eliminate defects before occurrence.
- Deliver supplier prevention or control improvements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier-related NPI issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.
- Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong expertise in supplier quality, NPI execution, and risk management.
- Working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, APQP, PPAP, and FAI processes.
- Experience operating within ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential
- Minimum 6 to 8+ years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality, NPI Quality, or Manufacturing Quality.
- Experience supporting complex, high-reliability products in industries such as semiconductor equipment, industrial, medical devices, aerospace, or high-tech manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience in leading supplier quality initiatives in complex product environments
- Driving supplier performance improvements and risk mitigation.
- Managing critical escalations and influencing business outcomes.
EDUCATION:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or equivalent certification preferred.
