Job Objective
The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising highway construction works to ensure projects are completed safely, within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with approved specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirement.
Key Responsibilities
A. Project Planning & Coordination
Coordinate and supervise highway construction activities in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
Liaise with consultants, contractors, authorities, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
B. Site Supervision & Construction Management
Monitor daily construction works, including earthworks, drainage, pavement, structures, and ancillary works.
Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved construction methods, quality standards, and project schedules.
C. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and regulatory standards.
Review and verify construction records, test results, and quality documentation.
D. Project Monitoring & Reporting
Track project progress, identify potential delays, and propose corrective actions.
Prepare progress reports, site records, and technical documentation for management and clients.
E. Safety, Health & Environment
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental requirements at project sites.
Promote safe work practices and participate in site safety inspections and meetings.
F. Contract Administration & Documentation
Review contractor submissions, method statements, and work programmes.
Maintain proper project documentation, correspondence, and records.
G. Problem Solving & Technical Support
Resolve technical and construction issues arising on site.
Provide engineering support and recommendations to improve project efficiency and performance.
H. Additional Responsibilities
Assist in cost control, resource planning, and project budgeting.
Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and authorities as required.
Perform any other duties assigned by Management from time to time.
Work Arrangement
Location: Telupid, Pan Borneo Sabah Project
Employment Type: Contract
Working Days: 6 days a week
Working Hours: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or Construction Management oequivalent.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in related field.
Special Skills
Strong knowledge of highway construction methods, specifications, and engineering practices.
Experience in supervising site works, coordinating contractors, and monitoring project progress.
Good understanding of quality control procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and project deadlines effectively.
