The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and guest rooms are maintained in excellent working condition. This role supports daily hotel operations by carrying out preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in a timely and professional manner to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant environment for guests and staff.
Carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance on hotel facilities, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
Follow scheduled maintenance programs for air-conditioning, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
Maintain proper records of all maintenance activities and completed tasks.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Front Office and Housekeeping.
Diagnose and repair issues such as:
Air-conditioning and ventilation systems
Lighting and electrical fittings
Plumbing fixtures
Furniture and carpentry works
Door locks, safes, and general room equipment
Ensure minimal disruption to guests while repairs are carried out.
Perform daily room defect rectifications including:
Leaking taps and clogged drains
Electrical faults
Air-conditioning problems
Door hinges, locks, and furniture defects
Support room preventive maintenance programs and refurbishment works.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and hotel safety policies.
Report any hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Assist in fire safety checks, equipment testing, and emergency preparedness.
Supervise and assist external contractors when required.
Ensure contractors follow hotel procedures and safety standards.
Support coordination of repair works with external vendors.
Maintain proper control of maintenance tools and equipment.
Monitor stock levels of spare parts and consumables.
Assist in ordering necessary materials for maintenance works.
Support hotel projects, renovations, and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Be on standby for emergency maintenance situations when required.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Management.
Minimum NITEC / Higher NITEC in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or related field.
Relevant technical certifications will be an advantage.
At least 1–2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel, serviced apartment, or commercial building.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, and carpentry works.
Hands-on and practical problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and service-oriented attitude.
Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
Basic computer literacy for reporting and record-keeping.
Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Positive attitude with a strong sense of responsibility.
Ability to respond to emergencies when required.
Works closely with Housekeeping and Front Office to resolve room defects.
Coordinates with external contractors and vendors.
