About Trapia
Trapia Malaysia is a vertically integrated Nile tilapia producer on Lake Temenggor, Hulu Perak, and among the world’s premium tilapia producers. We control the full value chain from hatchery and grow-out through processing for export.
Data AnalystDepartment: Planning & Analytics
Reports to: Management / CEO
Location: Batu Kawan, Penang
Build the models, forecasts and KPI tracking that run Trapia’s business. The role turns operational, biological and financial data into reliable forecasts and performance reporting, at both unit and company level. Aquaculture experience is not required — Trapia provides the domain knowledge; the priority is strong analytical and modelling capability.
Modelling & Forecasting
Building and maintaining advanced models for forecasting production, biomass, harvest, feed use, yield and cost.
Using modern analytical and AI tools to improve accuracy and automate routine analysis.
Maintaining rolling forecasts and tracking plan versus actual, flagging deviations early.
KPI Tracking & Performance
Defining and tracking KPIs from unit level (cage, batch, processing line) through to overall business level.
Covering the full value chain — hatchery, grow-out and processing, including processing yield, recovery, throughput and cost per kg.
Supporting the monthly budget-versus-actual and variance process together with Finance.
Reporting & Dashboards
Building management dashboards and performance reports for review.
Presenting clear, data-driven insight to support operational and commercial decisions.
Data & Systems
Maintaining clean, reliable data sets and ensuring data integrity across sources.
Developing analytical tools and dashboards using spreadsheet, business-intelligence (e.g. Power BI), database (SQL) and scripting (e.g. Python) tools.
Working with sensor and monitoring data where applicable.
Requirements
Strong numeracy and proven ability to build advanced analytical and forecasting models.
Proficiency with business-intelligence and data tools such as Power BI, SQL or Python — or the ability to pick up new tools quickly — and comfort using AI in analytical work.
Experience as a data analyst or in a similar quantitative role, in any data-intensive industry.
Ability to learn a biological production environment quickly; aquaculture experience not required.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across departments.
Proficiency in English; Bahasa Malaysia an advantage.
