Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the R&D team using CAD and FEA programs to design and develop new products.

  • Complete project work from inception to release, following product development procedures and utilizing available engineering structures and personnel.

  • Supervise the field testing of new and modified products when required on agreed mine sites using existing or creating new templates and schedules to document results.

  • Take part in Quality Control with suppliers when required, including but not limited to, inspection, manufacturing changes, product approvals.

  • Provide feedback and training to customers and suppliers on site when required using actual products, presentations and reporting methods.

  • Assist with sales support and technical documentation when required using either information at hand on local server or creating new documentation as required.

  • Actively involved in the continuous improvement of Talon Engineering products and engineering using technology, analysis of field research, customer feedback and personal technical knowledge to feedback and support proactive changes.

  • Follow directives or alternative assignments as specified by Engineering Manager or General Manager.

  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with all external and internal parties.

Key Accountabilities
  • Demonstrate creativity, effectiveness, and a positive approach in contributing to the R&D team.

  • Ensure on-time and within budget completion of assigned tasks.

  • Maintain positive, effective interpersonal and company relationships with customers, suppliers, and associated personnel.

  • Proactive drive to improve personnel development. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Developed time management and organisational skills

  • Good analytical problem-solving ability

  • Competent in the use of computers

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Required)

  • Mechanical design experience (Preferred)

  • Experience with FEA software

  • Experience with Inventor or similar 3D Computer Aided Design package 

  • Experience with 3D Printing

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing industry/foundry/steel casting (Preferred)
