ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsible for supporting the Rig Manager in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Velesto’s premium jack-up drilling rigs. The role involves assisting in daily operational planning, monitoring rig performance, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements. The Engineer, Operations acts as a link between onshore and offshore teams to facilitate smooth drilling operations, minimize non-productive time, and maintain asset readiness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Support

• Assist the Rig Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing drilling and operational activities.
• Monitor drilling parameters, equipment performance, and rig readiness.
• Provide technical input to resolve operational challenges and improve efficiency.

Performance Monitoring

• Track operational KPIs such as uptime, non-productive time (NPT), and fuel consumption.
• Identify and report operational risks or deviations from plan.
• Recommend improvements to enhance rig performance and reduce downtime.

Maintenance Coordination

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance scheduling for drilling and marine systems.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Verify maintenance records are accurate and meet audit requirements.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all operational activities comply with HSE standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Participate in safety meetings, drills, and incident investigations.
• Promote safety awareness and operational discipline among crew members.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and technical records.
• Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for onshore management.
• Document lessons learned for future operational improvement.

Team & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with rig crew, contractors, and onshore support teams to ensure operational alignment.
• Act as a liaison between rig operations and technical support departments.
• Foster teamwork and a collaborative working environment.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Marine, Petroleum, Offshore Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• Additional training or certification in offshore operations, drilling technology, or safety management is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2–5 years of offshore drilling or oil & gas operational experience.
• Exposure to jack-up rig operations and drilling activities preferred.
• Knowledge of drilling equipment, marine systems, and maintenance processes.
• Familiarity with international offshore safety and environmental regulations (API, IADC, ISO).
