JLG BUILDWORKS

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing and controlling costs within construction projects to ensure that expenses are accurately estimated and effectively controlled. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, architects, contractors, and suppliers, along with expertise in budgeting, cost management, and contract administration. A Quantity Surveyor focuses on hands-on project execution, helping to ensure projects stay on budget and meet financial objectives.

Cost Estimation and Budgeting

  • Prepare and manage accurate cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for construction projects from inception through completion.
  • Analyze project requirements and design specifications to estimate labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Monitor project budgets and recommend adjustments to keep within financial targets.

Cost Control and Value Engineering

  • Implement cost-control measures and monitor ongoing project expenses, comparing them against the budget to prevent cost overruns.
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize resource use and achieve cost savings without compromising quality or project objectives.
  • Assess risks and propose mitigation measures to manage unforeseen costs.

Contract Administration

  • Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities, schedules of work, and other contract documentation.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract terms with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to secure favorable terms.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage contract disputes, if necessary.

Procurement and Vendor Management

  • Assist in the selection and procurement of materials, services, and equipment, securing competitive prices and quality products.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors, evaluating quotes and overseeing the procurement process to stay within budget.
  • Maintain records of purchases and delivery timelines to support smooth project execution.

Project Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and present financial and project status reports, including cost analysis and financial forecasts, to project stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress and align project costs with milestones.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of financial records, contracts, and project data for reporting and auditing purposes.

Collaboration with Project Teams

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost planning and control.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss financial aspects, identify potential issues, and propose solutions.
  • Support teams by providing insights on cost management, contract compliance, and project planning.

Pay: RM2,700.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
