The Chief Ground Instructor (CGI) shall manage all activities of the Ground School and must meet the following requirements:

1. Shall have practical background in aviation.

2. Have undergone a course of training in instructional techniques.

3. Have undergone a course of training in instructional techniques or have had extensive previous experience in giving theoretical knowledge instruction applicable to the courses for which approval is sought.

2. Ensure that the training objectives as specified in the syllabi of various subjects are achieved.

3. Monitor standards of all cadets in Ground School.

4. Recommend additional training requirements in specific areas if required.

5. Ensure that records of Ground Training are properly maintained.

6. Ensure that at least four (4) class tests are conducted by respective Ground Instructors (GIs) in each subject prior to the final examination.

7. Develop Ground Training Syllabi for individual customers and National Regulatory Authorities as directed by the Accountable Manager.

8. Manage the Daily Ground Training Programme.

9. Ensure cadets’ reports are sent to sponsors/guardians at the end of each sub-phase.

10. Check the monthly reports required by HQ for accuracy and content in respect of Ground School.

11. Ensure that Training Aids and Equipment are maintained and that the Library is stocked with up-to-date and relevant reference material.

12. Keep abreast of any changes incorporated by EASA and CAAM in the Ground Training Syllabi and disseminate any changes to GIs and cadets.

13. Initiate appropriate continuity training for GIs as and when required.

14. Keep the Head of Training (HOT) informed of the activities of Ground School on a regular basis.

15. In addition, the CGI will teach approximately half the number of instructional hours undertaken by a GI.

• Ability to teach EASA subjects up to ATPL level.

• Good working knowledge of English.

• Good working knowledge of Physics.

• Good working knowledge of Mathematics, including Mental Mathematics.
