About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary practice in Kuantan Pahang. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to support our veterinary team in delivering high-quality animal care and welfare services. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic whilst maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and safety. Working closely with qualified veterinarians, you will contribute to the health and well-being of a diverse range of animals whilst developing valuable experience in the veterinary profession.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during clinical examinations, procedures and surgical operations, including restraining animals and preparing surgical sites

• Performing routine animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, watering, cleaning and general care of animals in the clinic

• Maintaining detailed and accurate medical records for all animals under the clinic's care

• Sterilising and maintaining veterinary equipment and surgical instruments to ensure optimal function and hygiene standards

• Preparing treatment areas and ensuring surgical instruments are ready for procedures

• Administering prescribed medications and treatments to animals under veterinary guidance

• Providing support to clients by offering advice on animal care, handling and welfare practices

• Maintaining a clean, hygienic and safe clinic environment that complies with relevant health and safety regulations

• Assisting with laboratory tasks and basic diagnostic procedures as directed by the veterinary team

• Supporting the administrative functions of the clinic, including scheduling appointments and managing inventory of medical supplies

• Physical fitness and the ability to handle and restrain animals safely and humanely

• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and organised medical records

• A willingness to learn and develop technical veterinary skills under professional guidance

• Reliability and punctuality, with a professional approach to work

• Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology and common health conditions is advantageous

• Familiarity with standard hygiene and sanitation practices in a clinical environment

• Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter or similar animal care setting is advantageous
