Role Overview:

We seek a Mammalian Cell Bioprocess Engineer for a contractual position to design, optimize, and scale mammalian cell culture processes. This role is critical in biopharmaceutical development, where engineered cell lines produce therapeutic proteins and biologics. Your work will directly impact drug development timelines and manufacturing efficiency for life-saving treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize fed-batch and perfusion processes for CHO or HEK cell lines to maximize viable cell density and productivity.

• Design and execute experimental plans to evaluate process parameters such as temperature shifts, pH control, and nutrient supplementation.

• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain consistent yield and product quality.

• Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and scale-up from bench to commercial manufacturing.

• Maintain detailed records of experiments, results, and process changes in accordance with GMP and regulatory standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture bioprocessing.

• Proven expertise in operating bioreactors (up to 50L scale) and analyzing process data using statistical tools such as JMP or Design-Expert.

• Experience with upstream process development for monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, or recombinant proteins in a GMP environment.

• Knowledge of cell line engineering, media optimization, and process analytical technology (PAT) for real-time monitoring.

• Strong communication skills to present technical findings to cross-functional teams and regulatory auditors.
