About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on and experienced IoT Engineer to lead our IoT & Hardware Engineering team. As HOD, you will not only drive the technical development of IoT solutions but also build, lead, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage, and mentor the IoT engineering team; setting clear goals, managing workloads, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and drive training, upskilling, and hiring needs.
- Establish team SOPs, workflows, and best practices to ensure consistent and efficient delivery.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for technical issues within the department.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Oversee end-to-end project development — planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client requirements.
- Communicate project status, risks, and milestones clearly to the management. stakeholders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with software, operations, and business teams as required.
IoT & Firmware Development
- Research, design, develop, and document end-to-end IoT solutions.
- Create and develop devices, sensors, and firmware as required by clients.
- Ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components in collaboration with firmware engineers.
Hardware & Electronics Engineering
- Design and develop electronic circuits for IoT devices, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Create and optimize PCB layouts ready for manufacturing.
- Conduct prototype testing and debugging to identify and resolve hardware issues.
- Select and source appropriate electronic components based on design specifications.
Firmware Development
- Develop, test, and maintain firmware for IoT devices and embedded systems.
- Write efficient, reliable, and well-documented firmware code (C/C++, MicroPython, or equivalent).
- Debug and optimize firmware for performance, power consumption, and stability.
- Ensure seamless firmware-hardware integration and manage OTA (Over-the-Air) update mechanisms.
- Define firmware development standards and review code produced by the team.
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of hardware designs, schematics, and test procedures.
- Ensure all hardware designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in hardware and IoT technologies and apply them to product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in IoT or hardware engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead role.
- Proven ability to lead and grow an engineering team.
- Proficient in PCB design tools (e.g.KiCAD,EasyEDA,Proteus).
- Proficient in 3D Design tools (e.g. Solidwork, UltimakerCura)
- Experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, and IoT protocols (e.g. XXXX).
- Strong understanding of firmware-hardware integration.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM6,500.00 per month
