About the role

Newbillion Precision Metal Sdn Bhd is seeking a Project Engineer (RFQ) to join our dynamic engineering team in Simpang Ampat, Penang. This is a full-time position based at our facility in Simpang Ampat. As a Project Engineer specialising in Request for Quotation (RFQ) management, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between project requirements and manufacturing capabilities. You will be responsible for evaluating customer specifications, preparing detailed technical quotations, and ensuring our proposals align with our operational capabilities and business objectives. This role is essential to our project delivery pipeline and directly influences our ability to secure new business and maintain strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse customer RFQ documentation, including technical drawings, specifications and project requirements

• Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial quotations based on project scope and engineering assessments

• Conduct feasibility studies to determine manufacturing capability, timelines and resource requirements

• Collaborate with manufacturing, production and quality teams to ensure quotations are accurate and achievable

• Identify potential risks and constraints in proposed projects and develop mitigation strategies

• Maintain detailed quotation records and follow up with customers regarding bid status and project progression

• Support project managers during contract negotiation phases by providing technical clarifications and specifications

• Assist in cost estimation and provide recommendations for process optimisation to enhance competitiveness

• Ensure all quotations comply with company standards, quality requirements and regulatory obligations

• Liaise with suppliers and external partners to obtain accurate pricing and availability information for project components

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering discipline

• Minimum of 2–4 years' experience in project engineering or quotation management within the manufacturing or precision metal sector

• Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, CAD drawings and engineering specifications

• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, machining capabilities and production timelines relevant to precision metal work

• Competency in cost estimation, budgeting and commercial analysis

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and professional quotations

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with quotation management systems or ERP software

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple RFQs simultaneously

• Proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to work collaboratively across departments

• Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems is advantageous

• Experience in aerospace, automotive or precision engineering industries would be considered highly desirable
