About the role:

SMITECH is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead site construction execution for a M&E infrastructure project in Singapore.

This role will work closely with the Project Manager, engineering teams, consultants, subcontractors, supervisors and site workforce to manage day-to-day construction activities, resolve site constraints, coordinate M&E installation works, and ensure works are delivered safely, on schedule and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage day-to-day site construction activities for M&E works, including electrical, mechanical, ACMV, fire protection, plumbing, sanitary, ELV and related building services.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise site teams, subcontractors, supervisors and workers to ensure smooth construction progress.
• Review construction drawings, shop drawings, method statements, work schedules and site requirements before execution.
• Coordinate closely with Project Manager, engineers, QAQC, WSH, planning, BIM and commercial teams to resolve site issues.
• Monitor construction progress against project schedule, manpower plan, work sequence and key milestone dates.
• Manage site coordination with civil, structural, architectural and other project stakeholders to minimise clashes and delays.
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and project procedures.
• Identify site constraints, technical issues, resource gaps and construction risks, and propose practical solutions.
• Lead site progress meetings, subcontractor coordination discussions and daily work planning where required.
• Support inspections, testing and commissioning preparation, handover documentation and project close-out activities.
• Promote safe work practices, quality workmanship and disciplined site execution across all site teams.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant construction experience, preferably in M&E, infrastructure, transport, utilities, commercial, industrial or public-sector projects.
• Strong experience managing site construction works, subcontractors, supervisors and multi-discipline M&E coordination.
• Good understanding of M&E installation sequence, construction drawings, shop drawings, method statements and site execution requirements.
• Able to manage work progress, manpower deployment, site constraints, coordination issues and project deadlines.
• Familiar with Singapore construction site practices, safety requirements, quality procedures and project documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced site environment and coordinate effectively with consultants, subcontractors, clients and internal project teams.
