Position Summary
The CAM Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machining programs using Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software to support efficient and high-quality production. The role works closely with Design, Production, Quality, and Process Engineering teams to ensure manufacturability, machining efficiency, cost optimization, and compliance with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Process Development
- Create and optimize CNC machining programs using CAM software (Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360, NX CAM, or equivalent).
- Generate tool paths for milling, turning, multi-axis machining, and complex components.
- Develop machining strategies to improve cycle time, productivity, and product quality.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions for production.
Manufacturing Support
- Support production teams during new product introduction (NPI) and prototype development.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and provide corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Conduct process validation and first article machining trials.
- Assist operators and machinists in resolving CNC programming and machining challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Process Optimization
- Analyze machining performance and identify opportunities for cycle time reduction.
- Improve tooling utilization and machining methods to reduce manufacturing costs.
- Implement best machining practices and standardized programming procedures.
- Evaluate new cutting tools, fixtures, and manufacturing technologies.
Technical Documentation
- Maintain CNC program libraries and revision control.
- Create and update machining process documentation.
- Ensure all manufacturing documents comply with company standards and customer requirements.
- Prepare technical reports and process capability studies when required.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure machining processes meet drawing specifications, GD&T requirements, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with QA teams to investigate non-conformance issues.
- Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
- Comply with ISO quality management requirements and company procedures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Design Engineers to improve manufacturability.
- Coordinate with Production Planning and Purchasing regarding tooling requirements.
- Participate in engineering reviews, process FMEA, and project meetings.
- Support customer audits and technical discussions when necessary.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in CNC programming and CAM engineering.
- Experience in precision machining, tooling, automation, semiconductor, aerospace, medical, or related manufacturing industries is preferred.
- Fresh graduates with strong CAM software knowledge may be considered for Junior CAM Engineer positions.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360, NX CAM, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of CNC Milling, CNC Turning, and Multi-Axis Machining.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and fixture design.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Siemens NX.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies is an advantage.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,500.00 per month
