Job Summary
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the company’s EHS policies, management systems and compliance processes across both development projects and operational building portfolio. The role also oversees the fire safety management framework for operational assets, including, fire certificate compliance and fire safety organization requirements.
The successful candidate will act as the company’s subject matter lead for EHS governance, supporting project development and property management teams, comply with applicable local legal requirements and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Governance, Policy and Management System
•Develop, implement, and enhance EHS policies, standards, and procedures, and programs in line with the local regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, Environmental Quality Act 1974, and other relevant Malaysian legislation.
•Lead EHS team and drive implementation of EHS management system across corporate offices, construction projects, and property/facility operations.
Implementation, Audit, and Reporting
•Lead EHS team and drive implementation of EHS management system across corporate offices, construction projects, and property/facility operations.
•Ensure the company fulfils its responsibilities as a developer/client in managing safety risks associated with consultants and contractors.
•Work with development and procurement teams on EHS requirements, and monitor the performance of supply chain (e.g., consultants, contractors, etc.), throughout development project lifecycle.
•Implement EHS processes for operational building and work closely with property and facilities management teams to ensure safe environments.
•Oversee establishment and operation of Fire Safety Organisation (FSO) for buildings where required. Work closely property and facilities management teams to ensure the compliance with fire safety regulations.
•Conduct EHS audits across projects and operational sites, and track closure of findings.
•Develop and manage EHS KPIs, dashboards and management reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement, and Capability Building
•Interface with regulators (e.g. DOSH, BOMBA, etc.) and auditors on EHS and fire safety matters, when required.
•Develop EHS training programs for all levels of staff and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall safety EHS culture.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, or a related field.
•Minimum 7-10 years of EHS or WSH experience in within the real estate and construction industry, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
•Candidates holding a Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may also be considered
•Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH Malaysia (mandatory). Additional certification, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent WSH, would be advantageous.
•Strong knowledge of Malaysian WSH legislation, including OSHA 1994, Factories and Machinery Act, CIDB regulations, and other relevant standards.
•Fire safety training (by BOMBA recognized provider) would be advantageous.
•Experience in managing building fire certificate and establishing Fire Safety Organisation (FSO) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) is highly appreciated.
•Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Proficient in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
•Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
•Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (written and spoken).
