Surbana Jurong Infrastructure Global Energy Department is seeking to hire a Senior/Principal Process Engineer. This role offers an exciting career opportunity for an experienced engineer with strong expertise in Process engineering design for gas systems (natural gas, LPG, hydrogen), fuel storage facilities, utility systems, waste-to-energy and biofuel-related projects, as well as consultancy and proposal development work.


Duties

  • Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Lead and independently execute Feasibility, Conceptual, Basic, Front End Engineering Design and Detailed Engineering Design for oil & gas, utility, biofuel and energy-related projects.
  • Preparation of various Process deliverables, including but not limited to Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process design basis and philosophies.
  • Perform and review process simulations and calculations (heat and material balance, hydraulic, utility consumption) as well as equipment and instrument sizing for tanks, pumps, compressors, pressure safety valves (PSV), control valves and etc.
  • Carry out surge (transient) analysis for pipeline and process systems, including assessment of pressure surges due to events such as valve closures, pump trips, and recommend suitable mitigation measures.
  • Develop fire protection and firefighting design basis, including firewater demand calculations, firefighting equipment sizing and fire protection layouts.
  • Develop utility system designs including steam, condensate, cooling water, chilled water, compressed air, nitrogen, flare, and water treatment systems.
  • Support waste-to-energy (WTE), biomass, renewable energy and biofuel projects, including process evaluation, technology assessment, and integration studies.
  • Prepare process specifications and datasheets for equipment including storage tanks, pumps, compressors, utility systems and etc.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, SIL, and other process safety and risk assessment studies.
  • Review vendor documents and ensure compliance with project specifications, design requirements, and applicable international and local codes and standards.
  • Review and comment on EPC Contractor deliverables, including process simulations, calculations, datasheets, PFDs, P&IDs, and safety studies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant international and local codes and standards (e.g. API, ASME, ISO, SS, NFPA, etc.) applicable to oil & gas, gas transmission, fuel storage terminal, WTE, renewable energy and biofuel systems.
  • Support proposal preparation, including concept development, preliminary sizing, technical write-ups, manhour and cost estimation inputs.
  • Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and performance testing activities when required.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including piping, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation (E&I), and civil & structural (C&S) disciplines to ensure integrated and safe design.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, licensors, contractors and authorities to resolve technical issues and ensure project requirements are achieved.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently while meeting project schedules and deliverables.


Requirements

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Process or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university
  • Required Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in process engineering design covering various phases of the project (Conceptual studies, FEED and Detailed Engineering).
  • Experience in gas transmission and distribution systems, fuel storage tank facilities and biofuel / renewable energy projects will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Aviation Fuel Hydrant System, LPG, LNG or hydrogen system design will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of process engineering design, calculations, and equipment/instrument sizing
  • Familiarity with process simulation, hydraulic and surge analysis tools (e.g. Aspen HYSYS or equivalent, Applied Flow Technology Impulse) will be an advantage.
  • Conversant with relevant international and local codes and standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software/tools.
  • Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, versatile, and capable of handling multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Project management experience will be an advantage.
