An Associate Design Director is a professional who is in charge of developing and maintaining a creative vision that speaks to the reader, viewer, or user. In this role, you will take an active and hands-on role in supporting the creative, engineering and project/account management teams. You will also work closely with clients and be responsible for conducting user and stakeholder research activities including user interviews, ideation sessions, usability studies and other user research techniques to inform a human-centred design for the project.

Key Responsibilities 

• Partner with the leadership team and stakeholders to execute product vision and strategy. 
• Collaborate closely with product owners to find opportunities for new products, features and to validate assumptions through user testing and research.
• Collaborate with managers, designers, writers, other team members, and external stakeholders to ensure the appropriate concepts, themes, and messages are represented effectively and consistently for the business objective(s) and audience(s).
• Review and approve designs, artwork, photography, and graphics developed by other team members
• Drive the overall quality of design output and its contribution to business objectives.
• Responsible for managing and supporting a team of designers to bring concepts, presentations, and prototypes to life. 
• Coordinate  activities with other artistic and creative departments.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing design culture.

Prerequisites

You have a strong interest in all aspects of design and its impact on the world around you, and share a passion for making digital experiences simple, meaningful and elegant. As an experienced Associate Design Director, you will participate and lead world-class projects, and enjoy collaborating with peers and clients alike to solve complex design problems. 

• You have proven working experience with 5+ years of experience.
• You have hands-on experience with logo design, typography, color, web layout design, print production, image selection and package design.
• You have a clear understanding and love for white-space and all that jazz (design principles).
• You are wildly creative, meticulous attention to details and addicted to the quality of craft
• Proficient and skilled in documenting project assets and briefs, project timelines and delegations, clear design direction and language for the team, and clear Keynote slides to portray ideation and communications.
• A well-rounded portfolio of client work, demonstrating a strong understanding of client objectives.
• Demonstrable art direction with a strong portfolio.
• Incorporate feedback and take/give direction well.
• Able to manage and mentor your assigned team with empathy
• You have excellent communication and presentation skills.
