What The Role Is
As a Civil Engineer in the Development Services Group, you will play a key role in shaping Singapore's built environment by providing technical engineering expertise that supports the physical development of our city. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that works at the intersection of urban planning and infrastructure delivery, ensuring that new developments are supported by well-designed and well-executed infrastructure.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams as well as external stakeholders — including government agencies, consultants, and developers — to translate planning intentions into sound engineering solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Singapore's long-term urban development agenda, with direct involvement in projects that have lasting impact on the city's landscape.
What You Will Be Working On
In this role, you will provide technical design and engineering inputs for the development of new areas, including the assessment of infrastructure requirements and the review of engineering proposals and plans. You will work with stakeholders across the public and private sectors to ensure that infrastructure solutions are technically sound, practical, and aligned with planning objectives.
You will also take on project management responsibilities for infrastructure projects that support the Government Land Sales (GLS) programme, overseeing projects from planning through to implementation. This includes coordinating with consultants and contractors, managing project timelines and deliverables, and ensuring that infrastructure works are completed to the required standards. You will be expected to identify and resolve technical issues that arise during project delivery, and to provide clear and well-reasoned recommendations to stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
You should have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience, with a good understanding of civil works, with in-depth knowledge in infrastructural and service planning and implementation. Familiarity with road design as well as the design of drains and sewers will be an advantage. Applicants with no experience may also apply if you have a strong foundation in engineering principles and the relevant internship experience.
You should possess project management skills spanning the full project lifecycle — from developing design briefs and detailed designs, to preparing tender specifications, supervising manpower, monitoring site progress, and carrying out contract administration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to work effectively with multiple agencies to finalise infrastructure requirements and resolve technical issues. Good writing and presentation skills are also expected.
We are looking for a collaborative team player who is also able to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
