Job Summary

The AV Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of audiovisual (AV) equipment to support meetings, conferences, banquets, weddings and other hotel events. The role ensures all AV systems function efficiently while delivering exceptional technical support and service to guests and event organizers.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and dismantle audiovisual equipment for meetings, conferences, banquets, weddings and special events.
• Operate microphones, sound systems, projectors, LED screens, televisions, video conferencing equipment, lighting and other AV systems.
• Perform routine inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of AV equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Respond promptly to technical issues during events and provide immediate solutions to minimize disruptions.
• Coordinate with the Banquet, Sales, Front Office and Engineering teams to ensure event requirements are fulfilled.
• Conduct pre event testing of all audiovisual equipment and ensure proper functionality before guest arrival.
• Maintain inventory records of AV equipment, accessories and cables, ensuring they are stored safely and kept in good condition.
• Recommend repairs, replacements or upgrades of AV equipment when necessary.
• Ensure all AV equipment is operated in accordance with safety standards and hotel policies.
• Assist the Engineering Department with basic maintenance duties when required.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service to guests, clients and event organizers.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or Management.

Requirements

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Multimedia, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 1 or 2 years of experience in audiovisual operations, preferably in a hotel, convention centre or event venue.
• Knowledge of audio systems, video equipment, projectors, LED displays, lighting systems and video conferencing platforms.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for AV equipment and networking systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, based on event schedules.
• Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM1,800.00 per month
