Role Description The Site Safety Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Pasir Gudang. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and standards at project sites in the petrochemical and oil and gas sectors. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards, and recommending corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. The role involves preparing and maintaining safety documentation, risk assessments, and incident reports, as well as coordinating safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training for site personnel. The Site Safety Engineer collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to integrate safety into all phases of project execution and supports continuous improvement of safety performance.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in occupational health and safety, with knowledge of relevant Malaysian regulations, industry standards, and best practices in petrochemical and oil and gas environments.
- Experience in site safety management, including hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Proficiency in preparing safety reports, maintaining safety documentation, and using basic office and safety-related software tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct safety briefings, training sessions, and engage constructively with multidisciplinary site teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on site, manage multiple priorities, and respond promptly to safety-related issues in dynamic project conditions.
- Relevant academic background such as a diploma or degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental, or a related technical field.
- Recognized safety certifications (e.g., OSHA-related certifications, NEBOSH, or equivalent) and familiarity with safety management systems are advantageous.
- Prior experience in petrochemical, oil and gas, or heavy industrial project environments in Malaysia is highly beneficial.
