Role Description The Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Bayan Lepas, responsible for developing and refining product designs from concept through to production. Daily tasks include creating and updating engineering drawings and 3D models, performing design calculations, and preparing technical documentation. The role involves collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability requirements. The Design Engineer will review prototypes, support testing and validation, and implement design improvements based on feedback and data analysis. Additional responsibilities include participating in design reviews, maintaining compliance with relevant standards, and supporting troubleshooting for design-related issues in production.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Design Engineering and Product Design, with the ability to develop functional, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.
- Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering principles, including materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for 2D drawings and 3D modeling.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Electrical Engineering concepts as they relate to integrated products and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, standards, and customer requirements, and translate them into practical designs.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple design tasks and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and experience working in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Familiarity with prototype testing, design validation, and continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial product environment in Bayan Lepas or similar settings is beneficial.
