We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Business Development Engineer to spearhead growth in end-of-line packaging automation, especially within the medical devices, pharmaceutical, and FMCG sectors. This role focuses on identifying and developing new opportunities, supported by a strong technical team.
Job Description
- You will be required to perform the below tasks but are not limited to:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in targeted industries
- Focus on projects with a minimum value of RM300k or those with repeat order potential
- Build strong relationships with prospects, consultants, and industry partners
- Conduct industry research, competitive benchmarking, and customer analysis
- Collaborate with technical and management teams to craft automation solutions
- Prepare and deliver high-quality commercial proposals, presentations, and simulations
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Service teams to understand product capabilities
- Coordinate with Sales Support to manage quotation preparation and ERP processes
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with technical teams for tailored proposals
Performance Expectations (First 6 Months)
Month 1–2
- Gain understanding of AFA’s machines, business model, and industry focus
- Spend time across key departments: Production, Engineering, Service, and Sales Support
- Accompany senior leaders on customer visits and sales discussions
Month 3–4:
- Identify and engage with potential new customers in core industries
- Prepare and present at least one full proposal with simulation or concept presentation
- Document insights and customer feedback for internal knowledge sharing
Month 5–6:
- Generate at least 3 new opportunities with project values above RM300k
- Deliver monthly sales forecasts and market trend updates
- Lead initial project discussions with minimal supervision
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
- 3–5 years’ experience in technical sales, industrial automation, or related fields
- Strong commercial acumen and presentation skills
- Ability to understand technical systems and translate them into customer value
- Familiarity with simulation tools and ERP systems is a plus
- Possess own transport & willing to travel as and when needed.

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
