Job Purpose

To provide a key role in the provision of the comprehensive clinical Nuclear pharmacy service. The work of the Nuclear pharmacy includes preparing and quality control of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals and clinical. The post-holder will play an active role in the supervising/supporting junior staff in the day-to-day operation. The post-holder is required to work to extremely high standards of accuracy and safety and at times will be expected to work alone. The post holder will be required to work closely with the Nuclear Medicine team to ensure the smooth running of Nuclear pharmacy service.

Core Duties

• Procure and ensure proper and safe storage of all radiopharmaceuticals and associated materials/consumables and its final products; ensuring inventory control of stocks in the unit is within an acceptable turnover.
• Prepare, compound and dispense required radiopharmaceuticals with aseptic technique, ensuring strict compliance to protocols to ensure quality products. Perform quality control testing of products where required.
• Ensure that patients receive proper preparation before radiopharmaceutical administration and trouble-shooting unanticipated outcomes.
• Document product recall activities in response to errors, defects, complaints and other signs of quality problems.
• Ensure safe and proper disposal of radiopharmaceutical waste.
• Performing functional checks of instruments, equipment, and devices and determining radiopharmaceutical quality and purity
• Expected to liaise with radiopharmaceutical manufacturers to ensure a continuing provision of suitable radiopharmaceutical products to ensure continuity of service provision
• Expected to provide advice to end users of issues relating to the safe and effective use of radioactive medicinal products, including storage conditions, formulation and potential adverse reactions.
• Required to place orders for radiopharmaceuticals and other items from external suppliers on the Sunmed’s ordering system.

Qualification & Requirements

• Recognized Degree in Pharmacy by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board.
• Registered with BKRP with class A license.
• Has undergone training/certification in nuclear pharmacy.
