Senior Electrical Engineer – Job Description

Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and engineering of modular data centre and critical infrastructure projects. The role involves electrical system design, technical documentation, supplier coordination, factory acceptance testing (FAT), project support, and continuous product improvement to ensure reliable and compliant solutions are delivered to customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Design & Engineering

• Prepare electrical designs for modular data centres, power skids, and critical infrastructure systems.
• Develop and review:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
• Load calculations
• Cable sizing calculations
• Voltage drop calculations
• Protection coordination studies
• Earthing and lightning protection designs
• Support the development of electrical layouts and equipment arrangements.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards such as IEC, IEEE, TIA-942, NEC, NFPA, and local regulations.
• Review engineering drawings and calculations prepared by suppliers and subcontractors.

2. Product Development & Standardization

• Develop and maintain standard electrical designs, specifications, and engineering templates.
• Support the development and enhancement of modular data centre products and power systems.
• Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and solutions for incorporation into DXN products.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Assist in establishing standard engineering practices and design guidelines.

3. Supplier & Vendor Coordination

• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers on technical requirements and engineering deliverables.
• Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical submissions.
• Support technical evaluation and selection of electrical equipment.
• Ensure supplier deliverables comply with project specifications and DXN standards.

4. Project Delivery Support

• Provide engineering support during project execution and deployment.
• Review installation drawings and construction documentation.
• Support commissioning, integrated systems testing, and handover activities.
• Assist in resolving technical issues encountered during installation and commissioning.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve as-built drawings and final documentation packages.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Maintain document control and engineering records in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

• 3–8 years of experience in:
• Data centres
• Critical power systems
• Electrical building services
• Industrial power systems
• Experience with UPS, generators, transformers, switchboards, DC power systems, and critical infrastructure is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office Suite
• Understanding of:
• MV/LV power systems
• UPS systems
• Generator systems
• DC power systems
• Protection systems
• Earthing systems

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.
