Role OverviewLead and develop a team of Test Engineers while driving test engineering excellence across electronic circuit board production at Jabil, a global manufacturing leader serving 300 of the world's biggest brands. As a Senior Test Engineer, you'll combine technical leadership with people management—designing and maintaining test procedures, hardware, and software while mentoring Test Engineers I & II to deliver quality testing solutions. This dual-focused role offers the opportunity to shape test engineering strategy, optimize testing processes, manage costs, and develop talent in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment supporting diverse industries from healthcare to automotive.
What You'll DoLeadership & Management Responsibilities
Recruitment & Retention: Recruit and interview Test Engineers I & II, communicate criteria to recruiters for Process Technician candidates, coach team members in interviewing/hiring processes, and monitor turnover to identify and implement retention improvements
Team Development: Identify individual and team strengths and development needs, create and validate training curriculum, and coach and mentor Test Engineers to deliver excellence to internal and external customers
Performance Management: Establish clear measurable goals and objectives (operational metrics, project timelines, training documentation), solicit ongoing feedback from managers and peers, provide coaching and counseling, perform evaluations professionally and on time, and drive continuous improvement in key metrics
Communication: Provide forums for exchange of ideas and information, organize verbal and written communications clearly using appropriate business style, encourage input from team members, and adapt communication style to individual team members
Functional Management Responsibilities
Business Strategy: Understand campus strategic directions, define and implement Test Engineering strategies that support organizational goals, and provide regular updates to Assistant Test Engineering Manager on strategy execution
Cost Management: Identify creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems, utilize monitoring tools for departmental cost trends, continuously improve value, and provide feedback on cost performance
Technical Management Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain test procedures, tester hardware, and software for electronic circuit board production across ICT, FVT, ESS, and system-level testing
Manage the engineering test function for standard and custom devices, identify and evaluate test procedures and equipment for quality checks, and compile data to analyze performance and recommend process improvements
Assist or spearhead development of special test equipment and software test programs required for successful project completion
Set up training programs for new product testing procedures, provide training and technical assistance to test engineers, and act as liaison and technical conduit for assigned customers
Explore new test technologies for quality improvements, perform detailed analysis on test quality to identify trends and spearhead corrective actions, and monitor all NPI (New Product Introduction) activities through assigned test engineers
Adhere to all safety, health, and security policies and procedures
Must Have:
Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
5-10 years of experience in test engineering in electronics manufacturing or related industry
Proven experience with test development across multiple test types (ICT, FVT, functional testing, or system-level testing)
Strong leadership and people management skills with ability to recruit, train, mentor, and develop engineering teams
Technical expertise in designing test procedures, developing test hardware/software, and maintaining test equipment
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to interface effectively with customers, management, and cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision-making approach
Cost management experience with ability to identify process improvements and cost reduction opportunities
Project management skills with ability to coordinate activities across large teams and manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in test engineering tools, programming languages, and test equipment platforms
Good to Have:
Experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing environment
Knowledge of test equipment platforms (e.g., Agilent/Keysight, Teradyne, Flying Probe, boundary scan, functional testers)
Programming skills in LabVIEW, C/C++, Python, or test-specific languages
Familiarity with quality standards (IPC, ISO, Six Sigma methodologies)
Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) development and optimization
Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
Exposure to diverse industries (automotive, medical, aerospace, consumer electronics)
Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
