KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care Duties:

1. Provide haemodialysis care in accordance with the Post Basic Renal Nursing standards, under guidance from the Person-in-Charge (PIC).

2. Perform routine nursing duties including preparation of dialysis machines, cannulation, initiation, monitoring, and termination of dialysis sessions.

3. Record and report patients' vital signs, symptoms, and responses to dialysis treatment in the prescribed documentation.

4. Administer prescribed medications and treatment as per medical instructions and centre protocols.

5. Assist in the observation, reporting, and escalation of any abnormal findings, clinical deterioration, or patient complaints to senior staff.

6. Educate patients and caregivers on basic dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, and self-care practices.

7. Uphold patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.

8. Follow the standard care plan and participate in its review as instructed by the doctor or PIC.

Emergency Response Support:

1. Provide initial response during medical emergencies such as hypotension, seizures, or cardiac arrest until support arrives.

2. Assist in preparing and maintaining emergency equipment and medication trolleys.

3. Report incidents accurately and participate in after-action reviews if required.

Infection Control & Safety:

1. Comply strictly with infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols including PPE use, hand hygiene, and equipment disinfection.

2. Maintain a clean and safe environment in the dialysis unit.

Equipment Handling:

1. Assist in the operation, monitoring, and cleaning of dialysis machines and the RO system.

2. Report any machine malfunction or technical issues to the PIC or technician.

3. Ensure proper care and handling of medical equipment used during patient care.

Team Collaboration:

1. Work collaboratively with the nursing team, doctors, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated patient care.

2. Attend regular staff briefings and training sessions as scheduled.

3. Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) activities relevant to renal care.
