Job DescriptionService Engineer / Service Technician

Position Summary

The Service Engineer / Service Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing industrial automation equipment and machinery at customer sites and the company's workshop. The role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide high-quality customer service while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Commissioning

  • Install and commission industrial automation equipment and machinery.
  • Perform machine testing and ensure equipment operates according to specifications.
  • Configure drives, controllers, sensors, and other automation components.
  • Conduct site acceptance testing (SAT) and factory acceptance testing (FAT) where required.

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system faults.
  • Repair or replace defective components.
  • Ensure minimal equipment downtime through efficient troubleshooting.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules and service recommendations.

Technical Support

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergency breakdowns.
  • Explain technical issues and solutions clearly to customers.
  • Conduct basic operator training after installation or repair.

Documentation

  • Prepare detailed service reports after each job.
  • Record maintenance history and equipment status.
  • Update customer service records and internal documentation.
  • Report recurring technical issues and recommend improvements.

Customer Service

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Maintain a professional attitude while representing the company.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure service satisfaction.
  • Recommend maintenance contracts, spare parts, and equipment upgrades where appropriate.

Workshop Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test equipment before delivery.
  • Maintain workshop tools and equipment.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory is properly managed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow company safety policies and customer site regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure safe work practices during installation and servicing.
  • Comply with all applicable quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Automation
  • Or a related technical discipline
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply (Service Engineer Trainee/Junior Technician).
  • Experienced candidates will be considered for senior positions.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Understanding of PLC systems (e.g. Mitsubishi, Siemens, Omron, Delta) is an advantage.
  • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, HMI, sensors, and industrial instrumentation.
  • Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking is an advantage.

Other Requirements

  • Possess a valid Malaysian Class D driving licence.
  • Willing to travel throughout Malaysia and occasionally overseas.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, or public holidays when required.
  • Able to work at customer sites, factories, and industrial environments.
  • Physically fit to carry tools, climb ladders, and perform field service work.

  • Response time to customer service requests.
  • First-time fix rate.
  • Machine uptime after servicing.
  • Preventive maintenance completion rate.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of service reports.
  • Compliance with safety procedures.
  • Minimal repeat service calls.

Working Conditions

  • Office, workshop, and customer-site based.
  • Frequent local travel and occasional outstation assignments.
  • Company vehicle may be provided for business travel (subject to company policy).
  • Overtime and travel allowances are payable in accordance with company policy.

Pay: RM1,934.77 - RM4,000.00 per month
