The Assistant Manager, Engineering assists in managing the daily operations of the Engineering Department to ensure the hotel's facilities, equipment, and building systems are well maintained. The role supports the team in delivering timely maintenance services, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests and employees.

THE JOBSCOPE
  • Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department.
  • Supervise engineering team members and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Coordinate and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
  • Ensure the proper operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, mechanical, kitchen, and laundry equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and plant rooms to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Assist in planning and executing repair and renovation projects.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment logs, and service reports.
  • Monitor inventory of engineering tools, equipment, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Support the preparation and monitoring of the department’s operating and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, fire, environmental, and statutory regulations.
  • Assist in implementing energy conservation and sustainability initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Security, and other departments to ensure timely maintenance support.
  • Participate in duty management and on-call responsibilities as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
