About The Program


The ASIC Design Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for graduates who aspire to build a career in Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design and semiconductor engineering.

Participants will gain hands-on exposure to the end-to-end ASIC design flow, including RTL design, functional verification, logic synthesis, Design for Test (DFT), timing analysis, and physical implementation using industry-standard Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools.


Program Structure

The programme consists of 1 month of intensive technical training followed by 3 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) with a semiconductor company.

During the training phase at ASEM, Cyberjaya, you will gain practical exposure to:

  • ASIC design methodologies and industry-standard design flow
  • RTL design using Verilog HDL
  • Functional verification with SystemVerilog
  • Logic synthesis using industry-standard EDA tools
  • Design for Test (DFT) fundamentals
  • Static Timing Analysis (STA)
  • Front-end low-power implementation
  • Physical implementation concepts
  • End-to-end ASIC design mini project
  • Professional development and industry-readiness workshops


During the OJT phase, you will work alongside experienced engineers, applying your technical knowledge to real ASIC development projects while gaining valuable industry experience.


Responsibilities

As an ASIC Design Engineer Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to industry-standard ASIC development workflows such as:

  • Assisting in RTL design and implementation using Verilog HDL
  • Supporting functional verification and simulation activities
  • Performing logic synthesis and design optimization
  • Assisting with Design for Test (DFT) implementation
  • Supporting Static Timing Analysis (STA) and timing closure
  • Assisting in ASIC implementation and design integration
  • Preparing technical documentation and engineering reports
  • Participating in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings
  • Collaborating with RTL, Verification, Physical Design, and cross-functional engineering teams throughout the ASIC development lifecycle


Who We're Looking For

• Fresh graduates or final-year students in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines

• Strong interest in ASIC Design, Semiconductor Development, or SoC Engineering

• Basic understanding of digital logic design and RTL concepts

• Exposure to Verilog/SystemVerilog is an advantage

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

• Interest in end-to-end chip development lifecycle

• Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
