Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-quality building materials in Malaysia. Established in 1990, we have built a reputation for innovation, reliability and exceptional customer service.
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Site Engineer/Project Coordinator to join our team. In this versatile role, you will bridge the gap between technical engineering, project coordination, and site execution. As a specialized structural steel subcontractor, we value agility, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.
Instead of sitting purely in an office or managing from a distance, you will be deeply involved in the daily reality of our projects, ensuring technical compliance, managing schedules, coordinating fabricators, and driving site installation. If you are a hungry, solutions-oriented professional looking to grow your expertise in specialized steel systems, this is the perfect opportunity to make an impact.
What You'll Be Doing
- Technical & Engineering Support: Review, interpret, and cross-check structural steel drawings (including Tekla or AutoCAD models). Identify discrepancies early and coordinate with engineers or clients to resolve technical issues.
- Site Supervision & Execution: Provide direct, on-site supervision of steel erection, installation, and heavy lifting activities. Ensure all work strictly aligns with engineering specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Project Coordination & Scheduling: Act as the central point of contact between the site operations, factory fabricators, and main contractors. Track delivery timelines for steel components to ensure zero downtime on site.
- Subcontractor & Resource Management: Manage daily site labour, subcontractors, and welders. Monitor progress against the master schedule and proactively resolve site bottlenecks.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce site safety standards and strict adherence to CIDB regulations, welding standards, and method statements.
- Documentation & Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate site diaries, progress photos, and material tracking logs. Assist in preparing documentation for progress claims and variations (VOs).
What We're Looking For
- Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering or a related construction field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, preferably within structural steel, metal works, or heavy structural projects. General civil contractors with strong site execution experience are also highly encouraged to apply.
- Technical Competence: Ability to confidently read and interpret complex structural drawings and architectural plans. Familiarity with steel fabrication processes or welding inspections is a strong advantage.
- Software Literacy: Proficiency in AutoCAD and basic project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project).
- Attributes & Culture Fit: Energetic, highly adaptable, and possessing a strong "get-your-hands-dirty" work ethic. You should be comfortable navigating high-pressure site environments and communicating effectively with both site workers and main contractor representatives.
- Mobility: Must possess own transport and be willing to travel to various project sites across the region as required.
Pay: Up to RM7,000.00 per month
