The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety, security, and risk management within the hotel premises. The role ensures full compliance with local laws, health and safety regulations, and international hospitality standards. This includes safeguarding guests, employees, assets and always maintaining a secure and compliant environment.


Job Responsibilities

Safety Management

  • Develop, implement, and monitor occupational safety and health (OSH) policies in compliance with local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Fire Services Act, and relevant Malaysian statutory requirements.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and hazard identification exercises.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations and ensure proper corrective and preventive actions are implemented.


Security Operation

  • Oversee daily security operations including surveillance, access control, and patrolling.
  • Develop and enforce security protocols to prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
  • Manage CCTV systems, alarm systems, and emergency communication tools.


Emergency Response & Crisis Management

  • Develop and regularly update the hotel’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Lead evacuation drills (fire, bomb threat, natural disasters, etc.).
  • Act as Incident Commander during emergencies and coordinate with police, BOMBA, and relevant authorities.


Compliance & Certification

  • Ensure compliance with: ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) requirements, BOMBA fire safety regulations
  • Maintain all required licenses, permits, and safety certifications.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities for inspections and audits.


Training & Awareness

  • Conduct regular safety and security training for employees.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all departments.
  • Ensure all staff are trained in emergency procedures and workplace safety practices.


Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Ensure contractors comply with hotel safety standards and legal requirements (e.g., insurance, PPE usage).
  • Monitor contractor activities to prevent unsafe practices.


Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly safety and security reports for management review.
  • Maintain records of incidents, inspections, training, and compliance audits.
