Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with company business objectives.
- Manage product assortment, range planning, and space optimization. Analyze market trends, customer behaviour, and competitor activity.
- Identify growth opportunities and new product development.
Sales, Margin & Performance Management
- Own category sales, margin, stock turnover, and contribution targets.
- Monitor category KPIs and take corrective actions when required.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and forecasting also drive continuous improvement in category profitability.
Supplier & Commercial Management
- Lead supplier negotiations including pricing, rebates, promotions, and contracts.
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers and distributors.
- Evaluate supplier performance and ensure commercial competitiveness. Source new suppliers and products when necessary.
Pricing & Promotion Management
- Define pricing strategies to remain competitive and profitable.
- Plan promotional calendars and ensure effective execution across outlets.
- Review post-promotion performance and optimize future campaigns.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Oversee inventory planning to ensure optimal stock level and availability.
- Reduce slow-moving, ageing, and obsolete stocks.
- Work closely with Supply Chain and Warehouse teams on forecasting and replenishment.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Category Executives and Merchandisers.
- Monitor team performance and provide guidance and training. Foster strong collaboration
- across departments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in retail or FMCG category management.
- Mandatory experience in handling the Beverage category, with a strong understanding of category planning, supplier management, and market trends.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or senior role.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiation and category strategy development.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
