Reports To: Program Manager / Head of PMO / Cloud Transformation Lead


Position Purpose


We are seeking a high-caliber, delivery-focused *Technical Project Manager* to lead a critical, fast-paced *AWS Application Modernization initiative* over a defined 6-month timeline.

This role is not a passive tracking position; it requires an active, technically grounded leader who can unblock complex engineering teams, manage dense software dependencies, and move monolithic or legacy application architectures into containerized, serverless, or microservices-based target states on AWS. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between deep cloud engineering requirements and senior enterprise stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities


1. Delivery & Wave Planning


 * *Define Migration & Modernization Waves:* Group workloads into efficient, low-risk execution phases based on detailed application dependency mapping, compliance boundaries, and business criticality.

 * *Execution Discipline:* Direct end-to-end execution of architectural modernization tracks (e.g., refactoring codebases, containerizing legacy apps using Amazon ECS/EKS, or moving to serverless patterns via AWS Lambda).

 * *Sprint & Task Management:* Run agile ceremonies, establish daily stand-ups, and actively manage the delivery pipeline inside tracking platforms (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).


2. Risk, Dependency & RAID Governance

 * *Dependency Mitigation:* Identify and aggressively resolve technical blockers across application development teams, infrastructure groups, cloud architects, and database engineers.

 * *Proactive RAID Management:* Own and maintain the Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID) log, proactively escalating critical path items before they disrupt timelines.

 * *Change Control:* Handle dynamic scope variation efficiently, validating the impact of architectural shift changes against tight 6-month schedule boundaries.


3. Testing, Cutover & Deployment Readiness

 * *Verification Cycles:* Coordinate comprehensive testing phases, including integration testing, security scans, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

 * *Cutover Runbooks:* Orchestrate highly meticulous, step-by-step rollout plans and rollback strategies to ensure zero-to-minimal business disruption during production traffic switchovers.

 * *Operational Handover:* Ensure technical runbooks, monitoring/observability patterns (e.g., Amazon CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry), and system documentation are smoothly transitioned to operational support teams post-deployment.


4. Stakeholder Management & Communication

 * *Executive Reporting:* Translate complex technical cloud concepts into clear, value-driven progress reports for steering committees and non-technical business leaders.

 * *Cross-Functional Sync:* Foster structured collaboration across highly distributed or matrixed cross-functional environments, bridging communication gaps between legacy domain experts and cloud-native developers.


Job Requirements & Qualifications


Work Authorization & Visa Requirements (Mandatory)

 * Due to the short-term, high-velocity nature of this 6-month contract, *new visa sponsorship or expatriate quota processing is not available* for this position. Candidates must already possess immediate, legal authorization to work in Kuala Lumpur.

### Technical Competencies & Experience

 * *Proven Cloud Track Record:* Minimum of 5–7+ years of dedicated IT Project Management experience, with at least *3+ years focused specifically on Cloud Migrations or Application Modernization initiatives on AWS*.

 * *Solid Architectural Literacy:* Strong conceptual grasp of legacy-to-cloud transformation mechanisms—specifically refactoring, replatforming, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS), microservices architectures, and database modernization (e.g., migrating to AWS Aurora/RDS).

 * *Tooling Proficiency:* Deep familiarity with modern discovery tools, migration appliances, and standard project management execution software (Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Azure DevOps).

Soft Skills & Leadership

 * *Thrives Under Friction:* Strong, assertive leadership capable of driving alignment among distributed engineering and product teams without direct line-authority.

 * *Hyper-Organized Focus:* Exceptional attention to structural detail, which is paramount for successfully steering a multi-application roadmap through a short 6-month delivery window.

 * *Local Communication Dynamics:* Excellent professional English speaking and writing capability; direct experience navigating corporate compliance, organizational matrix structures, and regulatory landscapes typical of the Kuala Lumpur enterprise market is highly preferred.

Preferred Certifications

 * *Project Management:* PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certifications (CSM, PMI-ACP).

 * *AWS Framework:* AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate level or higher) is a significant advantage.


What to Expect in a 6-Month Horizon

 * Month 1: Discovery & Backlog baseline

  Weeks 1–4

  Assess current application inventory, refine dependency mapping, align the RACI matrix, and lock down the 6-month wave plan.

 * Months 2–4: Active Modernization Sprints

  Weeks 5–16

  Drive iterative engineering execution, resolve immediate RAID blockers, and begin foundational staging environments setup on AWS.

 * Month 5: Testing & Cutover Preparation

  Weeks 17–20

  Finalize integration testing cycles, complete UAT validation, and build highly detailed production cutover runbooks.

 * Month 6: Go-Live & Operational Transition

  Weeks 21–24

  Execute migration waves, stabilize live cloud environments, complete operational team handover, and secure final stakeholder sign-off.
