POSITION: General Ledger and Reporting

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented General Ledger and Reporting professional to support our Finance Team. This role will be responsible for managing general ledger activities, month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, fixed asset records, provisions and accruals, tax-related matters, and financial reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in a timely manner. This position requires someone who is organised, analytical, and able to work closely with internal teams, auditors, tax agents, and relevant stakeholders to support accurate reporting, compliance, and smooth finance operations.

Key Reponsibilities

1. General Ledger Management:

· Oversee and manage the general ledger operations, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

· Perform monthly reconciliations of all general ledger accounts, reviewing journal entries, and making corrections as necessary to ensure accurate reporting.

2. Fixed Asset Management:

· Manage and maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of all acquisitions, disposals, and transfers of assets.

· Ensure the correct depreciation is calculated and recorded for all fixed assets.

· Assist in preparing and reconciling reports related to fixed assets.

3. Provision and Accrual Management:

· Handle provisions and accruals for month-end close, ensuring that all expenses and liabilities are accurately recorded and reported.

· Review and ensure that provisions for tax, legal liabilities, and other relevant areas are appropriately accounted for in the financial statements.

4. Financial Reporting:

· Provide detailed financial analysis and reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheet reports, and cash flow statements.

· Perform variance analysis for financial performance, comparing actual results with budget and providing explanations for discrepancies.

5. Month-End and Year-End Close:

· Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring that all journal entries, accruals, and adjustments are made to close the books accurately and on time.

· Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data prior to reporting.

6. Bank Reconciliation:

· Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions in the company’s bank accounts are accurately recorded in the general ledger.

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger in a timely manner.

7. Balance Sheet Reconciliation:

· Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and that any discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.

· Ensure that all reconciling items are identified and appropriately cleared.

8. Intercompany Reconciliation:

· Prepare intercompany reimbursable invoice

· Oversee the intercompany reconciliation process, ensuring all intercompany transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled between different subsidiaries or business units.

· Work with other teams to resolve intercompany discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.

9. Salary Journal Entries:

· Process salary-related journal entries, ensuring accurate recording of payroll expenses, including gross wages, deductions, and benefits.

10. Forex Posting:

· Manage foreign exchange (forex) transactions, ensuring the accurate posting of foreign currency gains and losses.

11. Company Tax Management:

· Ensure that tax provisions are accurately recorded and reconciled in the general ledger.

· Coordinate with tax agent to prepare and file tax returns on time and in compliance with local and international tax regulations.

· Monitor and track tax-related payments, deadlines, and compliance to avoid penalties or late fees.

· Assist with tax audits and liaise with tax authorities when required.

12. Internal and External Reporting:

· Prepare internal management reports to assist leadership with decision-making and strategic planning.

· Coordinate with auditors and external reporting bodies to ensure all required documents are provided and compliant with regulations.

13. Budgeting and Forecasting:

· Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing historical financial data and trend analysis.

· Help to create accurate forecasts for cash flow, profitability, and other financial metrics.

14. Ad-hoc Reporting and Analysis:

· Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as requested by management.

· Assist with special projects as necessary, such as system upgrades or other request by HQ

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

· Minimum Diploma qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

· At least 3 years of relevant working experience in Finance or Accounting, preferably with exposure to general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliation, and month-end closing activities.

· Good understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and intercompany transactions.

· Experience in handling salary journal entries, tax-related matters, forex postings, budgeting support, or audit coordination would be an added advantage.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with accounting or finance systems would be beneficial.

· Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.

· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to maintain proper financial records and documentation.

· Able to manage multiple tasks, meet reporting deadlines, and work effectively during month-end or year-end closing periods.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.

· Able to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with internal teams and external parties such as auditors and tax agents.

· Organised, proactive, responsible, and able to remain calm under pressure.

High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability when handling financial information.

Pay: RM120.00 - RM150.00 per day
