About the role

We are seeking an Account Executive to join HUAT LAI RESOURCES BERHAD in Melaka. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our accounting operations and financial management. As an Account Executive, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, managing client accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the financial health of our organisation whilst developing your expertise in bookkeeping and accounting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and categorised

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice management and payment processing

• Conduct bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies or unusual transactions

• Support the preparation of financial documentation for tax submissions and regulatory compliance

• Assist in managing client accounts and provide basic financial advisory support to clients

• Maintain detailed and organised financial records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies

• Liaise with internal departments and external clients to resolve accounting queries and ensure timely resolution of issues

• Support the audit process by preparing necessary documentation and schedules as required

• Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and best practices

What we're looking for

• A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional accounting certifications (such as ACCA, LCCI or equivalent) are highly desirable

• Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts management or a similar accounting role, ideally within a small to medium-sized practice or organisation

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero or SAP is advantageous

• Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical accuracy and the ability to work with large volumes of financial data

• Solid understanding of general accounting principles, ledger management and financial reporting standards

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information

• Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and compliance requirements is preferred
