Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects in Malaysia. Working closely with the Project Manager and project leadership team, you will coordinate project activities from planning and construction through testing, commissioning, and final handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Coordination
- Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale data centre construction projects.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely project completion.
- Identify project risks and support the implementation of mitigation plans.
Construction & Site Management
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor site progress and resolve construction issues promptly.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Cost & Contract Administration
- Assist in project budgeting, cost control, procurement, tender evaluations, and contract administration.
- Track project expenditures and support cost management initiatives.
Technical Coordination
- Coordinate engineering activities across electrical, mechanical (HVAC), civil, and building services disciplines.
- Participate in technical reviews and ensure project deliverables meet design and operational requirements.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Support the implementation of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and local statutory requirements.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections, and project acceptance activities.
- Assist in preparing project documentation and ensuring a smooth client handover.
Stakeholder Management
- Maintain effective communication with project teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
- Provide regular project updates and support cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (HVAC), Civil Engineering, Building Services, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 58 years of project management or construction experience, preferably in data centre construction, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale industrial/MEP projects.
- Experience supporting or delivering Tier III/Tier IV data centre projects is an advantage.
- Good understanding of data centre infrastructure, including electrical systems, HVAC, cooling systems, power distribution, telecommunications, and building services.
- Familiarity with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, contract management, and project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Strong communication, coordination, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment and manage multiple priorities.
