Work Arrangement:
EMEA Hours 08:00 – 17:00 (UTC +01:00) or Malaysian Hours from 3:00PM - 12:00AM.
You may need to support on-call and out of hours support.
Key Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of backup and recovery products, including technical documentation and governance.
- Enhance global standards and ensure the backup and recovery architecture is aligned with the bank’s overall strategy.
- Use deep expertise in data backup technologies, primarily Rubrik and Versity/ScoutAM, for long-term data retention.
- Apply expertise in Bare Metal Restore (BMR), primarily Cristie in combination with Rubrik.
- Gather and analyze requirements; provide consulting and technical support for backup and restore solutions and coordinate their implementation.
- Develop scripts using REST and GraphQL APIs to automate system processes.
- Manage release and patch activities for backup solutions in production.
- Identify optimization opportunities in availability, performance, information flows, disaster recovery, and security to ensure stable, low‑disruption operations.
- Evaluate and analyze system environments for technical feasibility (PoC), cost-effectiveness, and efficiency, including TCO, business cases, and market benchmarking.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from internal customers to senior management.
- Apply solid experience in the administration and monitoring of data backup solutions and ITIL-based ITSM processes.
- Provide out-of-hours and on-call support in exceptional cases.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong expertise in enterprise data backup, especially Rubrik and Versity/ScoutAM; knowledge of Veritas NetBackup/Alta Data Protection, Veritas Alta View, and NetBackup IT Analytics is an advantage.
- Very strong knowledge of agent-based backup concepts (e.g., Exchange, MS SQL, Oracle) and snapshot-based backup and restore.
- Deep expertise in Bare Metal Restore (BMR), particularly Cristie.
- Good programming skills in Ansible and Python.
- Solid experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Strong cooperation skills, resilience, and flexibility, particularly in agile environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within international teams.
- High level of initiative in developing technical improvements and solving complex problems.
- Ability to coordinate the resolution of complex disruptions in the backup and recovery environment.
- Advanced English communication skills, spoken and written; German is an advantage.
