Position Purpose

  • Packaging innovation – find pack formats that support category innovation (either direct or via EMOs)
  • Accountability for delivering all packaging design changes, including but not limited to new product introductions, product transfers, and site changes.
  • To develop a portfolio of packaging options for future use in conjunction with the innovation team and country marketing teams – e.g., “Front of store” friendly packaging, hang-sell, and improved display and visibility for small packs.
  • Develop and maintain packaging brief on new packaging, labelling, and security formats coming to market.
  • Develop a mechanism to share packaging innovation across the business.
  • Develop a design and concept with external partners – Packaging labs/Packaging research centres/Professional packaging groups.
  • Represent Inova as a member of the external packaging group – IOPP/IIP/AIP/PE/PCA & etc. Actively engage the external packaging institute, including but not limited to developing/research new packaging material/ applied concept design.
  • Packaging optimisation – cost savings from manufacture to packing on shelf, including if this results from operation cost reductions due to design changes.
  • Continuously work with internal/external stakeholders to generate ideas to improve the cost of packaging and execute them.
  • Project Management for packaging component or equipment-related projects (working with EMOs): Provide pack project timelines and key milestones, analysing and mitigating risks to the project manager.
  • Providing technical and analytical packaging input and support to assist with problem-solving.
  • Providing technical expertise to key stakeholders – including packaging material/ machine/Technology & etc.
  • Packaging costs drivers –Identify, Track, and Monitor key indicators to understand cost movements in packaging, e.g., resin price index, cellulose pricing & etc.
  • Packaging technical compliance – security, artwork, future packaging, Packaging functionality – ensuring that packaging meets quality, marketing, supply chain, regulatory, customer and consumer needs.
  • Packaging SME in establishing, improving, validating, and managing all packaging technical specifications.
  • Creating and maintaining packaging component drawings and specifications.
  • Establish packaging testing requirements and support the EMO with packaging machinery/material qualification and transportation trials.
  • Collaborate with EMO/packaging Supplier in packaging material/concept development and its manufacturability.
  • Keep track of packaging sustainability development trends/guidelines/country guidelines over Pharmaceutical packaging and engage with external parties proactively e.g., CHP, APCO, NEA, GSCF & etc.
  • MASTER DATA
  • Responsible for providing packaging master data for all SKUs in the ERP system
  • Ensure compliance with the allocation and use of EAN codes
  • Preparation of data and measures for reporting packaging data to government agencies, customer systems, and the Australian National Product Catalogue
  • Project Management
  • Manage the packaging initiatives and projects with other key functions – Marketing, Artwork team, QA, Technical, Procurement, ESG, Regulatory, and Supply.
  • Lead packaging projects with EMO/external labs and execute them on time. Provide leadership to the key EMO’s Packaging team from time to time with both technical and project management to deliver the project on time.
