About the Role:
The Kitchen Helper is essential to the smooth operation of our culinary team at the Daiso Global Distribution Centre (GDC) . You will support the chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring ingredients are prepped, workspaces remain spotless, and all hygiene and safety standards are strictly maintained during high-volume service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients for the daily menu.
- Maintain the impeccable cleanliness of the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and operational equipment efficiently.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, cutting boards, countertops, and floors throughout the shift.
- Receive, organize, and store food deliveries and supplies in the appropriate walk-in chillers or dry stores, practicing strict First-In-First-Out (FIFO) rotation.
- Manage kitchen waste disposal and recycling in accordance with club health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure all kitchen tools and equipment are properly stored and report any maintenance issues immediately.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a commercial kitchen, hotel, or catering environment is an advantage, but entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic are welcome.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy supplies, and work comfortably in a fast-paced, hot environment.
- Strong team player mentality with a proactive attitude and willingness to take direction.
- Flexibility to work shift hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Possess a valid Typhoid vaccination and Food Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain them upon hiring).
- Must be able to commute to Pulau Indah.
