Job Description

Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to ensure effective quality management and continuous improvement for Seremban Load & Haul operations by leading quality issue handling, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions and Quality Management System compliance. The Quality Engineer works closely with production, warehouse, planning, logistics, supplier quality, engineering, and other relevant stakeholders to investigate quality concerns, prevent recurrence of non-conformities, improve process capability, support customer and internal quality requirements, and ensure products are delivered in accordance with Sandvik quality standards, ISO 9001 requirements, and applicable procedures.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

·       Lead quality feedback analysis by reviewing defect information, identifying trends, verifying root causes, coordinating containment actions, and ensuring timely follow-up and closure of quality issues.

·       Handle internal and external NCR activities, including non-conformance registration, investigation coordination, disposition follow-up, corrective and preventive action tracking, evidence collection, and closure verification.

·       Support Quality Management System implementation by ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 requirements, Sandvik procedures, document control, audit readiness, process adherence, and continuous improvement of quality practices.

·       Monitor and support assembly process control by verifying process compliance, reviewing quality checkpoints, supporting defect prevention activities, and working with production teams to improve assembly quality performance.

·       Drive and participate in continual improvement projects related to quality performance, defect reduction, process efficiency, inspection effectiveness, and prevention of repeated non-conformities.

·       Support DPU improvement activities by analyzing defect-per-unit data, identifying major contributors, coordinating improvement actions with relevant stakeholders, and monitoring the effectiveness of implemented actions.

Required qualifications

·       Able to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, inspection criteria, and quality requirements.

·       Knowledge of incoming inspection, final inspection, reject verification, containment action, and non-conformance handling.

·       Basic understanding of root cause analysis, 8D methodology, corrective action follow-up, and supplier claim process.

·       Able to use common measuring equipment such as vernier caliper, measuring tape, torque wrench, pressure gauge, dial gauge, thread gauge, and other inspection tools.

·       Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements is preferred.

·       Able to use Microsoft Office applications for inspection reports, quality feedback records, and supplier claim documentation.

·       Able to communicate effectively with production, warehouse, planning, logistics, supplier quality, and engineering teams.

·       Able to work independently with minimum supervision and also cooperate effectively within the quality team.

·       Disciplined, proactive, safety-minded, detail-oriented, and committed to timely follow-up of quality issues.

EXPERIENCE

·       Working experience in quality control, incoming inspection, final inspection, or manufacturing quality environment is required.

·       Experience in handling supplier quality issues, quality feedback, part defects, rework or repair follow-up, and corrective action communication is preferred.

·       Experience in inspecting fabricated parts, machined parts, painted parts, electrical or mechanical components, and heavy equipment assembly parts is an added advantage.

·       Experience in preparing inspection records, quality issue reports, and evidence for supplier claims or internal quality follow-up is preferred.

EDUCATION

·       Certificate from technical & vocational school is acceptable.

·       Possess a diploma in electrical/ mechanical/ automotive engineering will be added advantage.

LICENSES AND DIPLOMAS

Possess a valid Malaysia driving license, minimum Class D, to support site-related quality activities, supplier coordination, material movement follow-up, and other work-related travel when required.
