The Junior Design Architect role involves producing high quality project design deliverables in construction documents of design consultancy and construction projects under the supervision of the Senior Design Architect. In essence, the Junior Design Architect can work on any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design Deliverables: Produce high-quality construction documents under the Senior Design Architect's supervision.
- Project Phases: Work on all development phases: Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
- Client & Submission to Authority Meetings: Attend meetings to understand client goals and design objectives, presenting ideas accordingly.
- Design Input: Contribute to conceptual/schematic design and verify drawings for compliance before advancing stages, including cost estimates for client approval.
- Team Collaboration: Assist in design production tasks, including space planning and detail design during tender/construction drawing preparation.
- Task Management: Maintain a daily task list for projects, discussing schedules and delegations.
- Project Meetings: Participate in regular project team meetings, ensuring documentation is complete and writing clear notes.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with stakeholders, check all drawings, and manage submissions to authorities and contractors.
- Contract Management: Support Directors in implementing building contracts, being accountable to legal, client, and moral responsibilities.
- Design Team Support: Attend internal and external design meetings, assisting the Senior Design Architect technically and conceptually.
- Site Inspections: Conduct periodic site visits to resolve issues and supervise consultants and subcontractors.
- Project Close-Out: Efficiently close projects, rectify issues, and manage documentation for project handover and storage.
Requirements
- Degree in architecture or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience is required.
- Excellent technical drawing skills.
- Strong communication, project management, and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and software programs such as AutoCAD and SketchUp
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.
- Language communication: English and Bahasa
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9AM-6PM; may work some weekends due to construction progress
- Amenable to work in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur
