Job Summary
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving production equipment, jigs, fixtures, and automation systems to support manufacturing operations. The role involves creating detailed mechanical designs using SolidWorks, optimizing production processes, and ensuring equipment meets quality, safety, and cost requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and production equipment using SolidWorks.
- Prepare 2D engineering drawings, 3D models, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by designing production tooling and manufacturing fixtures.
- Improve existing production equipment to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Process Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Conduct design verification, prototype testing, and validation before production implementation.
- Ensure all designs comply with company standards, safety requirements, and engineering specifications.
- Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators regarding machining, fabrication, and component manufacturing.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment-related problems.
- Maintain engineering documentation, revision control, and technical records.
- Provide technical support during equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in continuous improvement (Kaizen/Lean Manufacturing) activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply (experience in manufacturing is an advantage).
- Experience in electronics or manufacturing industries is preferred.
Required Skills
- Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modeling, sheet metal, assemblies, drawings, and BOM generation).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is an added advantage.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, and assembly.
- Familiar with pneumatic and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
