Job Scope

• Oversee the on-site deployment of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Coordinate installation activities, manage contractors, ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements, secure the necessary site approvals, and provide timely project progress updates.
• This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in utility-scale or commercial and industrial (C&I) electrical projects and a passion for supporting the energy transition.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Project Site Management
  • Supervise daily BESS installation activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to approved engineering drawings and project specifications.
  • Coordinate site activities involving contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Monitor project progress and provide timely updates on site activities, issues, and milestones.
• Regulatory and Documentation
  • Obtain and coordinate all necessary site permits, inspections, approvals, and authority clearances.
  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, inspection documents, and project-related documentation.
• Health, Safety and Quality
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE regulations, company safety procedures, and project quality requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and promptly address any safety, quality, or workmanship issues.
• Commissioning Support
  • Coordinate system testing, commissioning activities, and performance verification.
  • Support troubleshooting during system energisation and commissioning.
  • Assist with defect rectification and project close-out activities.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Candidate must have at least three to five years of site supervision experience in electrical infrastructure, renewable energy, industrial, or related projects.
• Possession of a PW4 certification issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga is highly preferred.
• Additional health, safety, and environment certifications, such as NIOSH, CIDB Green Card, or First Aid certification, will be an added advantage.
• Hands-on experience in the installation, deployment, testing, or commissioning of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is highly preferred.
• Candidate must possess sound technical knowledge of:
  • Medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems
  • Battery systems
  • Inverters and Power Conversion Systems (PCS)
  • Transformers and switchgear
  • SCADA systems and integration
• Candidate must be able to interpret electrical single-line diagrams, layouts, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Candidate must be familiar with electrical testing and commissioning procedures.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong project and site management capabilities.
• Candidate must possess strong contractor coordination, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Candidate must be willing to travel to and work at project sites as required.
